Taking on the second series of this science game/puzzle show hosted by Simon Singh I was tasked to move the show on from a promising first series and win a bigger audience. I redesigned the format and updated the presentation. The series earned the highest ratings of any programme on BBC4 for 6 weeks during its run and went onto inspire a BBC magazine of the same name.

In 2003 the skeleton of a young woman was found in an Essex graveyard. She seemed to show signs of syphilis but her radiocarbon dates proved her to be more than 700 years old. This programme follows an archaeologist's quest to discover whether the woman is the earliest known bearer of the disease in Europe. Using state of the art DNA analysis it throws doubt on the long held belief that syphilis was brought back from the New World by Columbus.

The most powerful of all curares was made by an Indian tribe in Guyana - unfortunately they have long since lost the art of poison making. Working with the tribe a British biologist attempts to rediscover a poison that was more than 1000 times stronger than cobra venom.
